Swarm intelligence in action

One of my coachees was struggling with a complex problem. A new team member is going to be introduced in two weeks time and an old one took another job. As the new team member needed to be seated close to his newly assigned mentor, this meant that the whole team (they are working in one big room) had to change desks. He was puzzled about how he could make everybody happy. He knew that some of them had preferences: some wanted to be seated close to the desk because they liked the direct…

The retreat goes on

Savouring my recollections of the SOL Summer Retreat, one of the phrases that lingers in my mind is Paul Z's: "I could live like this". "Me too!", I thought, "yet, the retreat will be over soon." It was Friday…

On the difference between SFT and MT & CBT

At the 2009 EBTA conference in Helsinki Janet Bavelas, Harry Korman and Peter de Jong presented their micro analysis research on the different ways in which Motivational, Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Brief therapists co-construct the therapeutic reality.…

Hi Anton - I would love to come to Hungary but it is programme's Validation event which is the one and only thing I really couldn't give to someone else to do!!  But next year I intend to be there.  The background is easy to do (when you know how ;-)

I just wanted to say thank you to you and Liselotte for some inspiration you have unknowingly given me! - I have adapted your anchors and buoys exercise from the 57 activities book. I was stuck with how to get 2 new university departments to consider areas of collaboration, I read your exercise and realised I could use it slightly differently.
Islands are the key areas of expertise/ operation, Buoys in different colours are where each dept believes it has good experience and expertise and finally anchors are where, knowing what they know abut the future - they see the best areas for collaboration and partnership. These depts are geospatial depts so the marine metaphor is perfect.
Thanks again
Phil

Hi Anton, it was such a wonderful experience to know you a little bit more during the summer retreat. Thanks especially for your presentation about your project - it initiated many interesting discussions about "what can we do to make the world a little better".
Wish you all the best, hugs, Julia

Hi Anton I'm not sure that I had the possibility to say good by to you. Exploring Liselotte's and your work workshops at several conferences made me sure, this will be the right week for me. And I got even more. Thank you both for the wonderful engagement.

Dear Anton back home safely? Have a good restart! And maybe a little bit unreasonable...? Hug Urs

Quote of last month

"...dass Nachdenken und Entscheiden zweierlei ist, dass Nachdenken weder die richtige noch überhaupt eine Entscheidung hervorbringen muss, die Entscheidung vielmehr so kompliziert und schwierig machen kann, dass es lähmt." Nachdenken verlangt Zeit, Entscheiden verlangt Mut.

TIP for trainers:
On the SFBTA website you can download the Instructor's Resource Manual and the Learner's Workbook for "Interviewing for Solutions". Very useful exercises ... and it's for free!

You prefer a "step by step" introduction instead to start with reading some
