In which role(s) do you use SF ideas and tools? (You can pick more than one)
What is your connection to Solution Focused Work (based on Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer at BFTC Milwaukee and others)?
I am a practicing Executive Coach and Team Facilitator who has been inspired by The Solutions Focus book and want to know more. I actively use the Solutions Focus and OSKAR models in my work with clients.

Hi Roger, good question about why the need for a specific OSKAR coaching model. Two answers:
1. It's an accident of history - we designed OSKAR first (for a client), and then elaborated it into the six tools. Which are indeed more flexible and more complete - I tend to split the O of OSKAR into PLatform and Future Perfect these days anyway.
2. Some managers like the idea of a process, as opposed to a tool set. We go to some lengths to stress that there is no right way of doing SF and you can use the tools/elements in whatever order seems to fit - indeed this is a key skill. But for those who don't want to grapple with such flexibility (which does mean you have to think!) then OSKAR is a good place to start.
Hope this helps. You're right in thinking that OSKAR doesn't add anything, and indeed is more limited than the tools imho.
You want to learn more about "Solution Focus"? You prefer a "step by step" introduction instead to start with reading somevoluminous books? You would appreciate to have a complete "helicopter view" on SF after the first step…
