Sharing and building Solution Focused practice in organisations
A couple of weeks ago Paul Z Jackson posted the following message on Facebook: "champagne on ice for 10th anniversary celebrations of The Solutions Focus.... many small steps to get this far..."
To which I replied: "Won't ask what you are proud of, nor what you are grateful for, nor how you did this, nor who helped you and how you've made good use of it, let alone ask you what you will do more of (or keep doing), or what you will do differently. Nope won't do all of that. Will just smile and be happy for you guys . Enjoy the champagne and all those small steps taken and hopefully many more to come."
To which Paul in turn replied: "If you had asked..."
Which made me think: why not? And so I asked Paul and Janine if they wanted to do a short SF-like interview about their ten years as business partners at The Solutions Focus.
Here are some quotes from the interview:
“Solutions focus has done very well when we have been able to apply it. But to me it’s still under-performing when you look at the potential.”
“It’s a fine line between presenting SF as something people can take and use and have benefits from versus telling them it’s the best thing ever. Clients can work out for themselves that it’s useful and how, as opposed to us telling them that.”
“Then one woman, stands up and says: ‘Well I’ve implemented my project because my cafe is now open and people are coming along. And also, SF has helped me keep my children.’”
Want to know what else 10 years of solutions focus did to them (and many others)?
You can read the interview here (pdf).

What a nice and warm interview!
So clear and so heartwarming to read Janine an Paul say things that are so recognizable.
Thank you all three for this nice treat!
Thanks for a great interview and inspiration! I like the quotation from Janine
"It’s a fine line between presenting SF as something people can take and use and have benefits from versus telling them it’s the best thing ever" I am trying to introduce SF in heathcare organizations and struggling with this fine line! I also agree with Paul There is so much more to come!!! Thanks for opening my eyes and my world, hope to see you again and talk about what more is just around the corner!
