Just now I read, that the access to social networks like facebook and Xing is blocked now for employees of the government of the City of Zürich. Taking in account, that Ning also is a Social Network, I can imagine, that our http://solworld.ning.com also will be blocked for usage within organisations & companies - and a lot of information about SF stored in http://solworld.ning.com can be used with a private PC only....
What is your experience? Do you know organisations or companies where ning-groups are blocked? SOLWorld charter and licensingtag:solworld.ning.com,2008-12-07:2102269:Topic:99142008-12-07T17:42:37.404ZKamila Novakovahttp://solworld.ning.com/profile/KamilaNovakova

Dear all,

one of the topics discussed by the SOLWorld Steering Committee in Cologne at SOL 2008 International Conference was licensing.

Generally, SOLWorld community is working under the SOLWorld charter that stresses sharing: “sharing is the key word. The originators of the approach, Steve de Shazer and Insoo Kim Berg, have not trade marked their work. Indeed, the SF approach itself is based on collaboration.“ and collaborative ethos: “It is important to us that SOLWorld retains this generosity of spirit and the collaborative ethos. No-one owns the Solutions in Organisations Link-up name.“ as its key principles.

Anyway it seemed to be useful to take certain steps to prevent others from trademarking of the solution focused approach. I made a brief research and what impressed me was the Creative Commons' approach.

Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that “defines the spectrum of possibilities between full copyright — all rights reserved — and the public domain — no rights reserved. Our licenses help you keep your copyright while inviting certain uses of your work — a 'some rights reserved' copyright.“

They are based in the U.S. so their licenses were designed to fit the U.S. system of law. Anyway, main licenses are now transliterated to meet the international and national terms of authors' law (for details please visit the Creative Commons' websites).

At their websites they are mentioning the "Founders Copyright" as well. Perhaps this could be a way how to prevent unauthorized trademarking of SF approach?, despite of the Creative Commons' licences were primarily aimed to be used by the software developers.

Any comments to this topics are welcomed.

Best wishes,
Hi everyone
I went to Italy to meet Marco and Riccardo last week, and they suggested the idea of an Italian language sub-group within the SOLWorld site. This has now been started as
Hi folks,

I've noticed we have a lot of stuff to share but it was difficult to find an easy form how to do it. Perhaps Ning itself can provide us with clever solution... I've just discovered the "Niki" platform (a Wikipedia-like feature at Ning) and I really like its possibilities!
[If you are interested how does it work, please visit http://widgetlaboratory.ning.com/widget.php?app=wiki, then click the "Product Demos" button…

Enjoy exploration!]

I vote for taking a probe - maybe it would be difficult to manage the content (and some volunteering editors perhaps would be wanted as well), anyway I guess we have to try it first... I suppose it would enable sharing ideas in more organized form then discussions, forums and blogs can provide all together (however great these featueres seem to be).

What do you think? :)

Cheers,

P.S.: "Niki" is a paid feature but the price is very reasonable (and, as I hope, it will pay off in the future). Perhaps we could share fees within the Steering Group? At least, I am ready to participate. :) You can now reconfigure your 'My Page'tag:solworld.ning.com,2008-06-06:2102269:Topic:35872008-06-06T13:37:51.524ZMark McKergowhttp://solworld.ning.com/profile/MarkMcKergow
Following an update from Ning, everyone can now adjust the layout of their own pages. Go to 'My Page' and you will see that everything in the left and centre columns can now be dragged and placed - so, for example, if you want My Photos to be top and centre, you can have it! You can also adjust these items to show different numbers of photos, messages, friends etc, and show them in different ways. Enjoy exploring the possibilities.
